EDO Technical Services Operations (EDO TSO)
Telelogistics System is Built Completely with
Internet Technology
|
|
|
The EDO TSO
Telelogistics System uses Internet, Intranet, and Extranet
technologies.
|
 |
The typical Telelogistics
System is structured as an Intranet that supports
secure remote access. The Intranet Server is the storage
repository for the logistics information. A platform-independent
Internet server architecture is integrated with custom
Telelogistics modules to manage the transfer of existing
information into the system, minimize system maintenance
and provide remote, two-way, world-wide user access to
the information. Telelogistics Server content can be mirrored
to customer-designated servers anywhere in the world. |
|
Telelogistics maintainers
gain access through a Local Area Network (LAN). Other
users gain access through standard telecommunication channels,
such as Wide Area Networks (WAN) or the Internet. External
access is controlled by a "firewall", a set
of software protocols that restrict access via passwords,
logon strategies and other techniques. |
|
Online Telelogistics
content includes a Technical Library, maintenance documentation,
test procedures, Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) documentation,
and problem/resolution information. An optional interactive
help desk with news groups enables Telelogistics users
to log problems, receive help, search for answers, check
problem status, etc. |
|
Training requirements
are minimized by using easily-obtained, multi-platform,
consumer-familiar COTS products, such as Microsoft Internet
Explorer and Netscape Communicator. This results in a
user-friendly Integrated Logistics Support (ILS)
System that requires minimal or no training. |
